My baby boy and some pillows

My baby boy is almost three weeks old and he is all sorts of adorable! And since I'm not much of a convalescer (I just made that word up) I've been jumping right back into making some progress in my house. I decided to go simple and start with some new pillows for my family and living rooms.

I ordered two of these from World Market for my family room and love them! I wish the green was a little more green, but I took care of that with a green sharpie. I know - I'm crazy, but it worked! I didn't color over all the green, just added to it. You can see what I did in the picture at the bottom. But don't judge me on that - it was my first one. I didn't add any green to the peacock feathers on the second one.

I'm in the process of making this pillow for my living room where this...

...pillow from Target was recently added. I LOVE this one as well. Such a great pattern.

I also just ordered this fabric from Fabricadabra.us, so I can make this pillow for my family room (this is why I needed some green added to the pillows!).

I also picked up a couple of napkins from World Market to make the blue polka dot pillow. It's hard to tell in the picture but the polka dots have an ikat look to them and the blue goes perfectly with the floral pillow.

It feels good to be making progress - I feel like I've been running in place for the last two years. I finally have a clear vision of what I want to do. Now it's just a matter of doing it!

Making Progress...not so much

January was such a productive month for me. Was I wrong to think at 8 months pregnant that February would be the same? Apparently. Mostly I had design block in Girl #2 room (after a couple of weeks I realized it was because of the paint color and decided the whole room needed to be repainted before I could do anything else!), and I was having the hardest time finding just what I was looking for on Craigs. Why is it when you're not looking you see stuff, and when you are there's nothing?!

Anyway,  I was able to get my crib skirt made ( you'll never believe how I did it!), buy a dresser, order a stencil, and get the room edged out in paint. I'm having this baby in three days so that will have to do for now!

Here's the fabric I used for the double layered skirt:

Fabric I'm considering for the chair

Red will be the accent color. My husband is a HUGE Ohio State football fan (Go Bucks!), and as this is his only son I wanted the room to reflect that. However, I'm naturally drawn to blues and greens and I hate overly/obviously themed rooms. I didn't want the room to look like a sports bar so I'm using the Ohio State red as an accent...

...and using a mixture of vintage Ohio State programs...

...and maps as art.

There will also be some vintage photographs of the stadium, my dad when he played football, and some not so vintage photos of when my husband played football. So the football theme will be there, just understated! I can't wait to pull this room together!
